1978 Ranger 22
This 22 Ranger is Clean, Fast & Loaded with Equipment. A Gary Mull Design, she was engineered for Speed - Pure and Simple. Mull gave the Ranger 22 a lean, fine ended hull for speed to windward, with a flat run aft that helps her surf downwind. And he worked out a clever seven-eights rig that gives her a cloud of sail without a sky-high rating. To give the Ranger 22 a stiff, lightweight hull, she was stiffened with carbon fiber and a beefed-up cabin sole, designed as a structural part of the hull. And then there is the 22's extraordinary mast. Computer designed, it's cam-shaped, with special "turbulence generators" to give the mainsail added lift. The long cockpit is divided by the traveler - sail trimmers forward, helmsman aft - for maximum efficiency. Below deck the goal was saving weight. Simplicity is the rule.
The Cabin is bright and surprisingly roomy with plenty of space for sails and gear. But the most important thing about her is the way she sails.
Her Dimensions: LOA=22'6", LWL=17'6", Beam=7'10", Draft=4'3", Displacement=2,182#, Ballast=900#.
She is Powered by a Mariner 9.9 hp Electric Start Outboard with Long Shaft.
Sail Inventory Includes: Mylar Mainsail, Dacron Mainsail, Mylar #1 Genoa, #1 Genoa with 15' Foot, #1 Genoa with 13.5' Foot, #2 Genoa with 9.5' Foot with Reefs, 3/4 oz Spinnaker with Pole, Headfoil 2 Roller Furling.
